brouwerij het ij, biologisch, bier brouwerij ‘t ij brouwt al sinds 1985 eigenzinnig amsterdams speciaalbier. muzikant kasper peterson richtte het bedrijf op nadat hij kennis maakte met de belgische bierstijlen. als lid van de band door mekaar trad hij geregeld op in belgië en ontwikkelde hij een bovengemiddelde interesse in het bier van de zuiderburen. omdat soortgelijk speciaalbier in nederland nog nauwelijks gebrouwen werd, besloot hij het zelf te gaan doen.het bier dat hij aanvankelijk nog in een kraakpand brouwde, sloeg al snel aan. op zoek naar een grotere locatie stuitte hij op het leegstaande gemeentelijk badhuis funen. een pand met een uitgebreid watertoe- en afvoersysteem en een stoomgenerator en dus ideaal om in te brouwen. aangrenzende molen de gooyer hoort niet bij het pand maar dient al sinds het begin als ultiem markant herkenningspunt. niet lang nadat het brouwen begon had het badhuis ook een eigen proeflokaal en een terras.het terras groeide uit tot een geliefde ontmoetingsplek voor amsterdammers en het bier begon ook buiten de hoofdstad naam te maken. brouwerij ‘t ij groeide en brouwde steeds meer verschillende bieren. na ruim twintig jaar de brouwerij te hebben grootgebracht besloot kasper een punt achter zijn werk te zetten. bart obertop en patrick hendrikse werden de nieuwe eigenaren en zetten de traditie van het eigenzinnig lekker bier brouwen door met de introductie van nieuwe bierstijlen als de i.p.a. en verschillende pale ales.omdat de brouwerij aan de funenkade niet meer aan de vraag naar ijbier kon voldoen, openden we in januari 2013 een tweede locatie. in de brouwerij aan de funenkade produceren we al het tapbier voor het proeflokaal. zo’n 700 meter verderop, aan het zeeburgerpad, vullen we flessen en fusten af. ondertussen is de capaciteit ook daar alweer toegenomen. dat is natuurlijk goed nieuws want het betekent genoeg ruimte om alle klassieke ijbieren te kunnen brouwen en tegelijkertijd te kunnen experimenteren met nieuwe stijlen en sm
