慈濟醫院總入口網站。花蓮慈濟醫學中心 | 玉里慈濟醫院 | 關山慈濟醫院 | 大林慈濟醫院 | 臺北慈濟醫院 | 臺中慈濟醫院累積十餘年救貧經驗，證嚴上人體會「因病而貧」，懷抱悲心繼慈善志業之後，再度挑起重擔，發願為缺乏醫療設施的台灣東部民眾籌建醫院，以病人為中心，推向「人本醫療、尊重生命」的願景，提昇東部醫療水平。以延續佛教慈悲精神為立基，1979年發起建院，籌建歷程百轉千折、倍嘗艱辛，終在「福田一方邀天下善士，心蓮萬蕊造慈濟世界」之號召下，匯聚愛心力量，共成建院善舉。1986年8月，佛教慈濟醫院矗立於花蓮，開啟「守護生命守護愛」之慈濟醫療志業新里程。 創院後，本著濟助貧病之建院理想，取消住院「保證金」制度，引起社會醫界廣泛漣漪。未久，獲得衛生署重視與肯定，通告全台醫療單位取消保證金制度，是為嘉惠病患之一大福音。啟業同步推動「醫療志工」制度，是醫護同仁最佳良伴，亦是病患與家屬心情之依託，醫護與志工團隊相伴，做到全程、全人、全家、全隊之「四全」照顧。從來醫界追尋之「身、心、靈」統合療護目標，慈濟醫院做到了！爾後，繼花蓮慈濟醫院，花蓮玉里、台東關山、嘉義大林、台北新店以及台中潭子慈濟醫院，先後完成。由點而線而面，「慈濟醫療普遍化」透過義診下鄉，從城市到鄉村，山之巔、水之涯，開展全台醫療網絡。※慈濟在1966年成立之初，即由證嚴上人在花蓮、臺東等地舉辦貧民義診，1972年假花蓮市仁愛街成立「慈濟功德會附設貧民施醫義診所」。1986年，慈濟醫院啟業後，並長期致力於偏遠地區及原住民社區義診。1996年，一群來自社會各大醫院、私人診所的醫師、藥劑師、護理人員，在證嚴上人精神感召下，以「醫病、醫人、醫心」為宗旨，組織「國際慈濟人醫會」（tzu chi international medical association, tima），這群有愛心、願意回饋社會的醫界人士，開啟另一個管道貢獻所長，愛心醫療網由此延伸至醫療貧瘠之地。大愛無遠弗屆，慈濟以跨國際的慈善工作邁向國際舞台，並進一步提昇國際救援之關懷面。慈濟人醫會志工，平日以關懷居住地貧苦患者為主，執行包括外科手術在內的全科性義診服務，若國際間發生災難，亦配合慈濟賑災行動，啟動醫療救援工作。
